It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Distracting flash is distracting.

This site draws more attention to itself than it does to the artwork. "Woohoo look at the flash effects!" When I click on art, I want to see art. I don't want to see flash in action. Unless the deviation is flash, of course.

I'm sorry, dA, but this update has made my browsing experience worse, not better.

I have heard people complaining about not having a search bar??!! On my DA main page, I have one right in the middle of the top of the page. On this journal, it's on the top left. I don't get what people are complaining about (in regards to a search bar). :shrug: I remember a day when non-paying (free) members weren't allowed to use the search bar at all.
I'm NOT crazy that every time I do a search, it defaults to only the "POPULAR" images. I don't give a rats pooper what everyone else likes. I think it should default to the "NEWEST" images. I'll judge what I like. :nod:
Now, too much flash, seriously slows down computers and is annoying. I agree. You're spot-on right there.

I kinda like a few things about v7, I just wish I could set deviations to be big to begin with, and deviation comments to open automatically.

I have a Search window at the top right of the screen, but that's probably in Beta Testing which is why I have it. =p

i don't mind it so much. i mean it still loads up for me just as fast or faster than it used to. the thing that bugs me is the lack of automatic full view and how some things are hardly resized for the default view but they get resized anyway.
